The new Flamenco Biënnale Intermezzo 2019-2020 series begins with two days of musical dialogue. This is the sixth time that Flamenco Biënnale Nederland presents an ‘intermediate event’. On November 22 and 23, together with the DeLaMar Theater and the Meervaart Theater, we presented Estrella Morente.

Following in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Enrique Morente (1942-2010), he brings to life the Arab-Andalusian musical heritage of Morocco. Estrella Morente will perform her modern flamenco together with the Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest, with the violist / vocalist Jalal Chekara, previously present at our festival in 2017, together with his Chekara Orchestra.

This February Rafael Riqueni, the legendary teacher from Seville, proves to be the guitarist of all guitarists. His new album is a ‘miracle beyond words’ according to the Spanish press. Requeni pays tribute to his hometown, Seville, with the María Luisa Park, which is named after the gardens of the most beautiful park in Seville. Two first-rate guitarists travel with him: Salvador Gutiérrez and Manuel de la Luz. Especially for this occasion, they are accompanied by the dancer María Moreno ‘a new star in today’s fertile flamenco territory’ according to El País.

We are honored to also present the ‘great lady’ of modern flamenco dancing, Eva Yerbabuena, who will visit the Netherlands in March 2020. In Utrecht, The Hague and Maastricht, she presents her new show Tales from Sugar / Sugar Tales, together with your company. . The flamenco and music of the Japanese island Amami, and the Taiko drums will merge in a surprising new fusion, showing the universality of traditions. During the show in Amsterdam, the singer Alfredo Tejada and the guitarist Patrocinio Hijo, give an exclusive performance: Direct, live at the Bimhuis: flamenco singing without polishing, cante jondo, touching the soul.

In June 2020 there will be a long night of flamenco jazz in various places. Upcoming trios and quartets that are internationally furious. The lineup is coming soon, we will keep you posted on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
